Get ready to refine your control, strengthen your techniques, and elevate your Jiu-Jitsu skills to the next level!

📌 What Will You Learn This Week?

1. Self-Defense – Headlocks

  • Class A: Escape from a Ground Headlock with a dynamic transition:
    • Move to the Turtle Position.
    • Execute an Inversion to regain control.
    • Transition to Technical Mount and finish with the Straight Armbar.
  • Class B: Escape from a Standing Headlock:
    • Take the opponent’s back for control.
    • Finish with a Shoulder Lock to neutralize the situation.

💡 Tip: When escaping headlocks, the key is to create space calmly and intelligently. Use proper hip positioning and leverage to escape efficiently and stay in control.

2. Sport Jiu-Jitsu – Sidemount

We will focus on Sidemount escapes and transitions that connect to half guard and sweeps:

  • Class A:
    • Escape from Sidemount to recover the Half Guard.
    • Half Guard Sweep using the Underhook while controlling the opponent’s foot to complete the sweep.
  • Class B:
    • Escape from Sidemount by anticipating the guard pass, controlling the elbow, and recovering the guard.
    • Inversion with the Hand on the Belt, neutralizing the opponent’s pressure and regaining a favorable position.

💡 Tip: When working from Sidemount, every detail matters. The Underhook is key to creating leverage for escapes or sweeps. Focus on leg control and hip movement to escape efficiently.

🔑 GB1 Drill – Transitions and Control

This week’s drills will reinforce the skills needed to escape and recover positions effectively:

  • Class A: Escape from head-and-arm Sidemount control to Half Guard, followed by the Underhook Sweep while controlling the opponent’s foot.
  • Class B: Open the guard on the knees, pass the guard with the Under-the-Leg Guard Pass, escape from Sidemount with elbow control, and recover the guard (repeating with partners).

💡 Tip: Focus on the smooth transition between techniques. The key lies in connecting the movements fluidly. Repetition builds precision and confidence!

🎯 Specific Training – Sidemount

In this week’s specific training, the goal will be to attack and defend from Sidemount. Practice escapes, transitions, and guard recovery to dominate the situation:

  1. Work on technical escapes: Test elbow control and inversion techniques.
  2. Master Half Guard: Use the Underhook to set up clean sweeps.
  3. Focus on guard recovery: Train with partners who provide progressive resistance to test your timing.

🗣 GB1 Talking Point – Master Carlos Gracie Jr.

This week, we’ll discuss the legacy of Master Carlos Gracie Jr., the founder of Gracie Barra. Master Carlos believed that Jiu-Jitsu is more than a fight—it’s a powerful tool to transform lives and bring communities together around the world.

💡 Reflection: Training Jiu-Jitsu isn’t just about techniques. It’s about discipline, respect, and personal growth. You are part of this incredible legacy! Honor the mat and take what you learn here into your everyday life.
