This week is all about developing intelligent movements to escape pressure and turn the situation in your favor. Get ready for another week of growth and learning!

📌 What Will You Learn This Week?

1. Self-Defense – Clinch & Holds

  • Class A: Escape from a Front Bear Hug Under the Arms:
    • Break the opponent’s grips.
    • Perform the Outside Hook Takedown to bring them to the ground.
    • Finish with a Straight Armbar to maintain control.
  • Class B: Escape from a Rear Bear Hug Over the Arms:
    • Use a Hook on the Leg to destabilize.
    • Support yourself with your hand on the floor and finish with a Leg Lock.

💡 Tip: Stay calm and use your body weight and proper leverage to break the opponent’s hold. Every detail matters!

2. Sport Jiu-Jitsu – Mount | Knee on Belly

This week, we’ll focus on escaping Mount and Knee on Belly, essential skills for recovering control and reversing the fight:

  • Class A:
    • Escape from Mount Using the Bridge to break the opponent’s balance.
    • Escape Using the Elbows when the opponent opens the knees, recovering the Closed Guard.
  • Class B:
    • Escape from Mount Using the Elbows when the opponent transitions to mount, allowing you to take the Back Control.
    • Knee on Belly Escape by turning your back and recovering to the Open Guard.

💡 Tip: Focus on precision with bridges and the use of elbows to create space. The key lies in connecting your hips with your movements, transforming defense into an opportunity for attack.

🔑 GB1 Drill – Fluidity and Transitions

This week’s drills will emphasize smooth transitions between escapes, control, and attack:

  • Class A: Open the guard on the knees → Pass the guard Over the Leg → Establish sidemount → Mount → Escape using elbows + Recover to Closed Guard.
  • Class B: Pass the guard with Bullfight Guard Pass → Control Knee on Belly → Escape by turning the back → Recover to Open Guard.

💡 Tip: Focus on maintaining connected movements without pauses. Fluidity is what transforms a good practitioner into a black belt in progress.

🎯 Specific Training – Mount | Knee on Belly

During this week’s specific training, the goal will be to practice escapes and test your control in these dominant positions. Work to improve your reactions and use movements with precision and technique:

  1. Escape from Mount: Practice the bridge and the use of elbows to recover guard.
  2. Escape from Knee on Belly: Use the turn to the back or recovery to regain control.
  3. Controlled Transitions: Focus on connecting each movement to build a strong defense.
